This post will be about tier curtains and most important things you have to know about them. You probably know that they are getting more and more popular, tier kitchen curtains can be seen on a lot of windows lately. This is not unexpected, since fashion tends to come around. What was popular, will be popular again. This is what is happening to kitchen tier curtains right now.
When you want to change window treatments in your home, you bring great change in the style and atmosphere of your entire home, not only windows and rooms. We all notice that there is a huge difference when there are no curtains on windows and when they have some kind of window treatments that makes improves their charm. Just take into account that there are many types of tier drapes with different colors and designs, then it’s easy to grasp we have a huge playground for home improvement.
Kitchen tier curtains can be a great choice in the room where you need both privacy and light. Tier kitchen curtains can cover both upper and lower part of the window. Of course, you can choose to cover only lower part of the window but there is always an option to do more. By covering the upper part with curtains, we are able to see through the window and in the same time prevent anyone from the outside to see what is happening inside our home. What is also important part here is that you are allowing sunlight in your rooms. The combination that these curtains make for your windows and your room is perfect. You can use tiers wherever you find fit – kitchen, bathroom or even in a garage. We just want to mention, if you do want to block sunlight with your curtains, choose blackout curtains. They will not only block the sunlight, blackout curtains can hold the cold air outside and keep insects where they should be.
We want to emphasize on a fact that when you are looking to bring certain atmosphere in your home, design, color and style of the these decorative items are very important. They should always match the mood you already have in the room, consider it as a first big rule. Why change entire room to fit one tier curtain? It’s easier and more practical to go the other way around.
We will give you an example here. Frilly curtains can look great in a kitchen setting, but using them in a shop is not such a great idea. You also need to take care about colors you choose for your curtains – red will brighten the room and give some intensity to it. On the other side, blue color curtains will slow down atmosphere a bit. And white tier curtains will make a dull, not impressive window, while a bit of green or red will change the situation to more brighter side. You could use white color curtain in bathroom if you really treasure white color, but stay away from white curtains in garage. Foe some people that is obvious, but others are known to make that mistake. There are people who actually make their own red tier curtains, finding instructions and sewing them especially for garage. But that simply won’t do any good to them because of the dirt in the garage area.
Another great thing about these, besides that they do not cover your entire window, is that they can be installed quite easily. They can always be suspended by rings, but you can also shirr them on the rod. They can even become a tab-top curtains with a bit of fabric that loops over the curtain rod. But they are mostly mounted inside the window frames on spring rods, while another type of curtain rod will be installed in case these items should be fitted outside the frame.

Let me share another tip considering changing how they look. Try to apply anything you come up with on them. It’s easy to change the color of the rod, use spray to make some markings or some similar improvement. Try experimenting with different fabrics for one item and create something you will enjoy in. A lot of people choose to go with tier cafe curtains and love the whole process of making them. Kitchen tiers are a fantastic choice for many homeowners and I believe that is something we are all used to by now. They simply FIT THERE.
Last thing for today; tier kitchen curtains usually don’t have top tier, but you can find some with upper valence that is a bit less than 6″ deep. It is good to know this is also an option for you and your kitchen tier curtains and there isn’t anything you can’t try to change. Do whatever suits you and feels right, create a refreshing atmosphere in your home. With enough light and enough privacy, your window treatments fulfilled their task for the day.
You would rarely see a design show on TV with kitchen tier curtains. They lack the excitement offered by a tailor-made window curtain, and they are not too expensive either. But that shouldn’t prevent you from using them. They are good for solving your window problems. The most helpful feature of such curtains is that you can get them conveniently at many stores and they are not very expensive.

A tier curtain as you may already be aware is a curtain that wouldn’t cover the entire window. These are also known as café curtains. Such a curtain is usually hung almost half way up the window with the help of a curtain rod. These are ideally suited for kitchens as they allow you to get plenty of sunlight and at the same time offer privacy when you close the curtain. As most kitchens are bound to have different smells, stains and oils, these curtains are made from cotton that can be washed easily.
Though I pointed out that such curtains are easily available, many users may find it difficult to get them in an appropriate style that suits their requirements. There are many patterns in lace, apple, and country designs in this style, but you get very few designs in traditional or fashionable style. But that shouldn’t stop you from using these if they fulfill your requirements. Many online stores have a large range to offer. Otherwise, you can look for these curtains in different designs and styles at places like Garnet Hill, IKEA and Pottery Barn. If you are keen to have lined curtains you can very conveniently order a set in a fabric of your choice from a local woman who undertakes sewing. If you don’t approve of that idea, you may order them online as per your specification from Calico Corners, Etsy and Smith & Noble.
Rather than using café curtains, some homeowners prefer to have privacy using wood blinds with a swag or valance on the top. If you had a window on top of the sink, you may not necessarily require privacy but including kitchen curtain with valance does make a difference. Cornices present another way of dressing up your kitchen.
The best way to get a homely look in the kitchen is to use fabrics therein. Many people complain that their kitchen looks too messy or too hygienic. Once you incorporate a fabric there, it begins to look different and inviting. It proves a good focal point that distracts you from the clutter around that area. In case the environment is too hygienic, your eyes get a pleasant spot to visit.

I love the curtain on the pic. I think I saw it while I was visiting my friend in Atlanta.
Anyways, it’s good to know someone feels the same way as me when it comes to tiers. I simply LOVE EM! I don’t have them in all my rooms, thanks to my hubby, but they are most versatile and most convenient window treatment. You don’t have to be extra careful when washing them, don’t have to worry kids will rip them apart, it’s easy to maintain them and you can cover a window in a second. I don’t wanna even compare them to the blinds!
I just wanted to say, shopping online can save you money, but you can’t FEEL the vibe unless you go to the store. AND, some local stores have unbelievable discounts, just wait for all those items to go on sale or be discontinued.

The one in the photo looks great, but few more photos would be a great thing. We want to see more options since it’s hard to decide for a tier curtain and buy it when you know there might be something even better. More pics please!
I’m looking for some tier curtain sets as we are redecorating our house. I love how the one at bottom pic looks like, I think that one will be perfect for a romantic atmosphere. Also, I wonder will it block the sunlight, is it thick enough for that? It would be a great bedroom tier curtains solution.
And what would you recommend for material/fabric when it comes to kitchen tier curtains? I’m always worried about the cooking, will it bother the fabric, make it dirty and somehow influence the drapery to change its looks. I would appreciate any help you can give me on this.
Thanks,
Jordan
I like that black tier curtain as well.
What I’m looking for is something more luxurious, like what you can see in those old movies. I would say that it’s the perfect thing to have in your living room. I’ve been to Penney’s and there is good variety of tab top tier curtains but wanted to see what I can find online too. A LOT of choices, I have to say.
I wanted to ask what kind of material is more durable: velvet or polyester? Velvet tier curtain seems like the best thing to have, but I wonder how easy it is to maintain them and will the sun be a problem for the color. I wouldn’t want them to fade in a year or two.
I got these last spring and am happy with how they look on my windows. But. The sunshine coming through them is really bothering me. It’s not the heat, we got AC for that, but it’s hard to take a nap in your living room when you have sun rays beaming at your eyes! I\m definitely changed them before this summer. I’m not saying that any type of tier curtain is a bad idea. I just wanted to warn anyone who wants to have them to think about the sunlight and how they can blackout their room if needed.
I wanted to use additional layer of fabric to cover the entire window when I need it, but that just didn’t look good on the window. Well, if I don’t come with something smart, I’ll have to remove these and get me some new curtains installed.
